Michael Teden has extensive experience in the US domestic and international commercial insurance industries. He worked for ten years at Lloyd’s of London before starting up the US subsidiary of a Lloyd’s broking firm in Charlotte, North Carolina in February, 1979.
He has represented all areas of insurance and risk management - from underwriting to broking—and has traveled extensively both in the US and internationally to help clients manage their risk portfolios. He has focused on business development within the corporate and investment banking divisions of the larger financial institutions for such firms as Palmer & Cay, Sedgwick, and Marsh & McLennan.
Michael Teden is Chairman and Managing Director of Whitehall Advisory Group, a business advisory firm dedicated to providing “Best Practices” to solve problems for mid-sized to Fortune 1000 companies. The firm has offices in London and Charlotte.
The Charlotte Cricket Club was formed in 1990; Michael was founder and co-chairman. The club staged 10 consecutive tournaments attracting teams from the UK, Bermuda, Philadelphia, and New York.
He served as Chairman of the British American Business Council of North Carolina from 1992 to 1997 and was recognized by the British government for his contribution to the development of bi-lateral trade and investment. He is an Officer of the Order of the British Empire this honor bestowed upon him by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on May 3, 2000 at Buckingham Palace.
Since July 1, 2001, he has been the British Honorary Consul for North Carolina appointed by Her Britannic Majesty’s Consul-General, Atlanta.
On April 28th, 2003 he was awarded North Carolina’s highest civilian honor, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. The award was presented by the Governor of North Carolina, the Honorable Michael Easley. The Order recognizes contributions and service to the State of North Carolina.
