On behalf of Charlotte Chamber Chair Frank Emory we hope you plan to join us for the Charlotte Chamber's 58th Inter City Visit as we visit one of the world's greatest cities, LONDON, May 19 - 23. We are very excited to announce that our Inter City Visit Trip chair is Dr. Pamela Davies, president of Queens University of Charlotte, and our honorary co-chairs are Tom Nelson, CEO of National Gypsum, and Michael Teden, OBE, British honorary consul for North Carolina.

There is a lot to learn from London! Topics may include transportation, global finance, arts & culture, the Olympics, Tech City and the entrepreneurial ecosystem/platform, sustainability, Center City retail, doing business abroad, workforce development and multiculturalism. We also have some very exciting venues and events planned!

Registration

Download the registration form here. The all-inclusive cost per person for the trip is $5,000, which covers airfare, hotel, group meals, ground transportation, tours, programming and entertainment. Your registration will be confirmed once the form and full payment are received.

Air

Ninety-five seats have been blocked for our group in coach class on US Airways Flight 732 to London Gatwick. For planning purposes, we will depart Charlotte on US Airways Flight 732 at 6:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 and will arrive in London on May 20 at 7:20 a.m. For your convenience, we have reserved the hotel rooms for the evening of May 19 so your room will be ready upon arrival. We will depart London on Wednesday, May 23 on US Airways Flight 733, which departs at 10:00 a.m. and arrives in Charlotte at 1:55 p.m.

Should you decide to make your own travel arrangements, you can reduce your registration fee by $750. You are responsible for any additional charges relative to booking your own airfare. Any travel related questions, i.e., upgrading your flight, extending your stay or travel for your spouse should be directed to Kathleen McCrory at Mann Travels. Hotel

While in London, you will enjoy outstanding accommodations at the beautiful Hyatt Regency London, The Churchill. The Churchill is minutes from exclusive shopping areas and England's renowned landmarks of Hyde Park, Marble Arch and Buckingham Palace. Visit the hotel website here. FYI, the hotel has extended our group rate for three days pre and post trip. Please contact Kathleen McCrory if you plan to extend your trip. Please do not contact the hotel directly.

Spouse Participation

Due to limited space at London meeting venues, spouses who are not a Board of Advisor representative and full-paying trip participant will be unable to attend any portion of the program. However, once dinner venues are firmed up, space permitting, spouses will be able to sign up to attend receptions/dinners at an extra cost.

For the first time in 2 years, Alan Black and friends are back at the beautifully renovated St.Peter's Episcopal Church sanctuary performing Beethoven's Piano Trio Opus 70 "Ghost"; Rachmaninoff's Trio Élégiaque in G minor, Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5 for soprano and trio and Brahms' Piano Trio in B Major Opus 8.

Tickets are only $30.00 and include a reception after the concert to meet the performers. All proceeds will benefit the Scholarship program for Chamber Music for Teens Summer Workshop 2011.

Each year the students are chosen via an essay contest conducted by the British American Business Council North Carolina in conjunction with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
